Lisa Carlsen

Biography

Lisa Carlsen emerged on the international scene in 1986 with Kahlua, considered one of the greatest horses in Canadian show jumping history. The pair won several major grand prix events to earn their place at the 1987 Pan American Games in Indianapolis where Canada claimed the team gold medal and Carlsen and Kahlua placed sixth individually. The following year, the pair made their Olympic debut at Seoul 1988, finishing fourth with Canada in the team event, before Kahlua was retired from competition in 1990. Carlsen returned to the international spotlight riding La Boom, her mount for Nations Cup events in Buenos Aires in 2010 and the 2012 Nations Cup Promotional League Final in Barcelona. Now partnered with Parette, Carlsen is experiencing a renaissance of sorts. She is once again a frequent member of Canadian Nations Cup teams and served as the traveling alternate for the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games in Mill Spring, NC.
