RICHMOND <\/strong>\u2013\u00a0Le Comit\u00e9 olympique canadien a d\u00e9voil\u00e9 aujourd\u2019hui le nom du jeune athl\u00e8te qui prendra la t\u00eate d\u2019\u00c9quipe Canada \u00e0 la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie d\u2019ouverture des Jeux olympiques de la jeunesse de 2014 \u00e0 Nanjing, en Chine, le mois prochain. Dylan French (Richmond, C.-B.) est m\u00e9daill\u00e9 de bronze des Championnats du monde cadets d\u2019escrime de 2014, un des escrimeurs canadiens les plus brillants et le porte-drapeau du Canada pour Nanjing\u00a02014.<\/p>\n

Lorsque le monde du sport se r\u00e9unira \u00e0 Nanjing le mois prochain afin de c\u00e9l\u00e9brer l\u2019avenir du sport olympique, French repr\u00e9sentera les espoirs et les r\u00eaves de plus de 90\u00a0des jeunes talents du Canada.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0C\u2019est formidable! Je suis honor\u00e9 d\u2019avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 choisi comme porte-drapeau du Canada \u00e0 Nanjing, et je repr\u00e9senterai notre pays avec respect et fiert\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 French. \u00ab\u00a0Je suis impatient de me rendre en Chine et de rencontrer le reste des athl\u00e8tes canadiens.\u00a0\u00bb Lien \u00e0 la vid\u00e9o\u00a0: bit.ly\/1q9eEQP<\/a><\/p>\n

Cette ann\u00e9e marque la deuxi\u00e8me \u00e9dition des Jeux olympiques de la jeunesse d\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9, une c\u00e9l\u00e9bration multisport comportant aussi un volet culturel, qui offre un environnement comp\u00e9titif o\u00f9 les futurs olympiens se mesureront aux repr\u00e9sentants de diff\u00e9rents pays et de diff\u00e9rentes cultures tout en apprenant les uns des autres. Pr\u00e8s de 170 nations ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 chacune un athl\u00e8te qualifi\u00e9 pour les Jeux de Nanjing.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Je me sens privil\u00e9gi\u00e9e d\u2019avoir l\u2019occasion d\u2019aller \u00e0 Nanjing et d\u2019aider \u00e0 guider les futurs h\u00e9ros olympiques de notre pays\u00a0\u00bb, a ajout\u00e9 Sandra Levy<\/a>, double olympienne (hockey sur gazon) et chef de mission d\u2019\u00c9quipe Canada pour Nanjing\u00a02014. \u00ab\u00a0Nanjing permettra \u00e0 tous nos jeunes athl\u00e8tes d\u2019acqu\u00e9rir de l\u2019exp\u00e9rience \u00e0 des Jeux multisports, ce qui ne peut \u00eatre que b\u00e9n\u00e9fique pour leur d\u00e9veloppement. Je me r\u00e9jouis \u00e0 l\u2019avance des beaux moments que nous vivrons assur\u00e9ment durant ces deux semaines de comp\u00e9tition.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0C\u2019est un honneur pour la F\u00e9d\u00e9ration canadienne d\u2019escrime de voir un escrimeur nomm\u00e9 porte-drapeau pour la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie d\u2019ouverture des Jeux olympiques de la jeunesse de 2014 \u00e0 Nanjing\u00a0\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Brad Goldie, pr\u00e9sident et chef de la direction de la F\u00e9d\u00e9ration canadienne d\u2019escrime. \u00ab\u00a0Dylan est une \u00e9toile montante du milieu de l\u2019escrime et un excellent mod\u00e8le qui incarne bien les id\u00e9aux et les valeurs olympiques.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0F\u00e9licitations \u00e0 Dylan pour avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 choisi comme le porte-drapeau du Canada \u00e0 Nanjing, et bonne chance \u00e0 tous les athl\u00e8tes qui participeront aux Jeux olympiques de la jeunesse\u00a0\u00bb, a ajout\u00e9 Marcel Aubut, pr\u00e9sident, Comit\u00e9 olympique canadien.<\/p>\n

La c\u00e9r\u00e9monie d\u2019ouverture de Nanjing\u00a02014 aura lieu au stade du Centre olympique sportif de Nanjing \u00e0 20\u00a0h, heure de Beijing (GMT\u00a0+8), le 16 ao\u00fbt 2014.
