Bottom line: Rosie MacLennan won a medal at the year’s biggest competition for the sixth straight time, a silver in the individual event at the World Trampoline and Tumbling Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida.

A day after her silver, MacLennan added another by teaming up with Aurora, ON’s Samantha Sendel to place second in the synchro event. Sendel withdrew from the individual event because of concussion symptoms but was good to go for Sunday’s synchro.
PGA Tour – Sanderson Farms Championship
Bottom line: Nick Taylor wins the Sanderson Farms Championship and becomes the first Canadian-born player since Mike Weir in 2007 to take a PGA Tour event.
The 26-year-old from Abbotsford, BC barely earned his PGA Tour card this season, but shot a final-round 6-under 66 on Sunday at Country Club of Jackson to secure the win by two strokes. Taylor is a former member of Golf Canada’s National Amateur Team and played in college at the University of Washington.
2014 Four Nations Cup
Bottom line: Team USA must be wondering when it’ll ever end as #TeamCanada pulls off another comeback win, taking the 2014 Four Nations Cup in a shoot-out.
Brianne Jenner scored the only goal of the shoot-out with a sweet move – faking shot before pulling backhand to roof the puck past the USA’s Molly Schaus. Canada was down 2-1 in the second period before Jennifer Wakefield scored from Natalie Spooner and Courtney Birchard to tie it. There was a full 20-minute overtime period before Jenner’s deciding goal. Geneviève Lacasse stopped 33 of 35 shots and of course, all three Americans in the shoot-out. The tournament was held in Kamloops, BC.
ATP World Tour Finals
Bottom line: Both Canadians lost their opening round robin matches at London’s ATP World Tour Finals, Milos Raonic to Roger Federer and Daniel Nestor with Nenad Zimonjic to Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo.
Raonic beat Federer last week in a Paris Masters quarterfinal but couldn’t do it again as the Swiss legend won 6-1, 7-6(0). Raonic, who is seeded seventh, will play fifth-seeded Andy Murray on Tuesday. The pair of Nestor and Zimonjic dropped their opener 6-3, 7-5 and play French team Julien Benneteau and Édouard Roger-Vasselin tomorrow.

FIVB World Tour – Doha
Bottom line: Rising Canadian beach volleyballers Josh Binstock and Sam Schachter lost to Germany’s Tim Holler and Jonas Schroder in the final of the Doha Open, a World Tour event.
Binstock and Schachter were bettered in straight sets (21-18, 21-13) but now have medals in back-to-back FIVB World Tour Open events after their gold last weekend.
“We were both a little tired, it has been quite a long couple of weeks,” Schachter said on the FIVB website.
“They served unbelievably well and we struggled a little with passing, but I’m just proud with the way we competed and played during the tournament. It is a new level of performance for us and I’m still happy with the overall two weeks.” – Sam Schachter at FIVB.org
UCI Track Cycling World Cup – Guadalajara
Bottom line: Canada’s women’s team pursuit won a silver medal at the season’s first UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico, losing to Great Britain in the final.
The Canadian team of Jasmin Glaesser, Stephanie Roorda, Allison Beveridge and Kirsti Lay beat New Zealand to qualify for the gold medal dual. They ultimately lost to Great Britain, a country that is undefeated in any World Cup or World Championship race they have competed in since winning Olympic gold in 2012. The silver continues a streak of Canada’s own: since winning bronze at London 2012, Canada has had a podium finish at all World Cup or World Championships races they have entered.
ISU World Cup Short Track – Salt Lake City
Bottom line: The veterans showed up in medal-winning form at the first short track World Cup, helping Canada win a gold, silver and three bronze.
