A week before Davis Cup, Tennis Canada legend Daniel Nestor is in fine form winning the doubles title in Dubai over the weekend.
Nestor with partner Rohan Bopanna of India beat Nenad Zimonjic (Serbia) and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi (Pakistan) 6-4, 6-1. Incidentally, Nestor and Zimonjic ended their doubles partnership at the end of last season, while Bopanna and Qureshi won Dubai together in 2014.
For Nestor and Bopanna, it is their second ATP tour title in their new partnership. The pair won in Sydney this season prior to the Australian Open in Melbourne. For Nestor, it was his 87th tour championship. The 42-year old will represent Team Canada in Vancouver March 6-8 against Japan in a bid for a quarterfinal spot in Davis Cup – the elite men’s national team tennis competition.
Olympic.ca will be on hand at Vancouver’s Doug Mitchell Thurderbird Sports Centre with live updates on Facebook at the conclusion of each match. The tie will also be broadcast live on Sportsnet and TVA Sports.
