Channell claims World Cup skeleton silver in Park City

Jane Channell raced to her best World Cup finish with a silver medal in Park City, Utah on Saturday.
After registering the fastest first heat push time of 4.94 seconds, Channell sat in second place with a time of 50.34s, just 0.21s behind Tina Hermann of Germany. Despite having a significantly faster start than Hermann again on the second run, Channell finished 0.41s behind the German who won in a two-run combined time of one minute 41.08s.
This has been quite the season for the Canadian who has led the women’s skeleton team throughout the World Cup circuit with five top 10 finishes. With a bronze medal from her first World Cup podium finish in Winterberg and silver from Park City, Channell is now third overall in women’s skeleton standings this season.
Additionally in Utah at this World Cup stop, Kaillie Humphries and Melissa Lotholz won gold in Park City in women’s bobsleigh on Friday.
