Nyhaug wins second straight BMX World Cup time trial

Tory Nyhaug took down another UCI BMX Supercross World Cup time trial title in Manchester, England on Saturday.

The London 2012 Olympian, who won his first World Cup time trial at the season’s opener in Argentina, went into the competition ranked fifth. The Canadian produced a huge run of 28.830 seconds, to knock Netherlands’ Niek Kimmann (28.904s) out of the first place position.

Corben Sharrah from the United Stated was seeded first overall and Nyhaug’s biggest threat for the time trial title. The American went through the second turn in seventh position and despite a blazing second half, passed the line in 28.88s, to finish second and bump Kimmann down to third.

Next up, Nyhaug will look to make the podium in the men’s BMX competition, after finishing fifth in Argentina. Canada’s Jesse Palmer will also join Nyhaug on the track for Sunday’s event.
