Bishop wins last 800 metre race ahead of Rio
In her last race ahead of her second Olympic Games, Melissa Bishop continued to show great form by winning the 800 metres in Eugene, Oregon on Friday.
Bishop’s time of one minute, 59.74 seconds beat a couple of top middle distance runners in Americans Brenda Martinez (1:59.82) and Shannon Rowbury (1:59.97).

The world silver medallist from Beijing 2015, who recently reset her own national record to 1:57.43 earlier this month in Edmonton, Bishop was the class of the field at the TrackTown USA meet, where Martinez and Rowbury qualified for United States in the 1500 metres back on July 10.

Martinez – the world bronze medallist in 800m from 2013 – suffered a fall during the U.S. trials in her stronger distance.
Bishop qualified for her second Olympic Games in the 800m at Athletics Canada trials in Edmonton this month.
