Rio 2016 Day 6: Results and fan reactions
Day 6 of the Rio2016 Olympic Games brings Oleksiak back for her freestyle final, a ton of rowing and the beginning of track cycling. Fans and athletes have taken to social media to support #TeamCanada
After winning another bronze in the 4x200m freestyle relay, Team Canada charges ahead to a jam packed day.
Swimming – Gold for Penny Oleksiak
Penny Oleksiak has won gold in the 100m freestyle.
Beach Volleyball – CAN vs Poland
Saxton/Schalk will be playing Poland in the lucky loser round.
Beach volleyball – CAN vs Germany
Pavan and Bansley beat Germany in straight sets, finishing at the top of their pool and advancing to the round of 16.
Swimming
Hilary Caldwell and Dominique Bouchard competed in women’s 200m backstroke. Caldwell advanced placing second overall, Bouchard placed ninth and failed to move forward.
Kierra Smith swam in the 200m breaststroke finals and finished 7th.
Santo Condorelli finished 5th in his heat and did not qualify.
Boxing
Arthur Biyarslanov has won the round of 36 and will move forward to the round of 16.
Indoor Volleyball – CAN vs France
Canada has fallen to France.
Tennis
Nestor/Pospisil have fallen to Spain in the semifinals and will move to the bronze medal match.
Track cycling
Team Canada has qualified and moved into the finals.
Gymnastics
The all-around competition has begun and features Ellie Black and Isabela Onyshko.
Beach Volleyball
Jamie Broder and Kristina Valjas had a quick game and swept Egypt 2-0.
Swimming
Hilary Caldwell competed in the 200m backstroke and has qualified into the semifinals.
Santo Condorelli competed in the 100m butterfly and qualified for the semi finals.
Brittany Maclean did not qualify forward.
Yuri Kisil and Santo Condorelli are competing in the 50m freestyle. Condorelli qualified for the semifinals, Kisil did not.

Arthur Biyarslanov has won his preliminary match.
Judo
Kyle Reyes has been eliminated.

Beach volleyball – CAN vs Cuba
Ben Saxton and Chaim Schalk have lost to Cuba and currently sit second in the pool. Them advancing will be dependant on the match at 2:00PM today.
Field Hockey – CAN vs Ireland
Canada has lost 2-4 to Ireland.

Rowing
A great day for Canadian rowing with three boats qualifying for the finals.
The lightweight women double sculls team of Lindsay Jennerich, Patricia Obee (Dirty Double) have made it to the finals.
Men’s four has qualified to the finals after their semifinal race. The True North 4 of Conlin McCabe, Will Crothers, Kai Langerfeld, Tim Schrijver will be racing tomorrow.
The women’s eight boat of Lesley Thompson-Willie, Lauren Wilkinson, Natalie Mastracci, Caileigh Filmer, Lisa Roman, Christine Roper, and Cristy Nurse has qualified for the finals after blowing their competitors out of the water and finishing a boat ahead of field.
