Rio 2016 Day 7: Results and fan reactions
Day 7 of the Rio2016 Olympic Games brings rowing finals, the beginning of the athletics competition and the return of Rosie MacLennan. Fans and athletes have taken to social media to support #TeamCanada
After a gold medal in the pool, Team Canada charges ahead to another jam packed day.
Trampoline – GOLD for Rosie MacLennan
Rosie Maclennan has won gold.
Rowing – Silver for the Dirty Double
Lindsay Jennerich and Patricia Obee have won silver in the lightweight women’s double sculls.
Conlin McCabe, Will Crothers, Tim Schrijver, Kai Langerfeld placed 6th in the final.
Carling Zeeman finished fourth in the semifinals and did not qualify.
Swimming – Bronze for Caldwell
Hilary Caldwell competed in the 200m backstroke and won bronze.
Chantal Van Landeghem raced in the 50m freestyle but did not qualify forward.
Soccer – CAN vs France
Canada has beaten France and won 1-0 with a goal from Sophie Schmidt. Canada will face Germany next in the semi finals.
Tennis – CAN vs USA
Nestor and Pospisil has fallen to USA and places fourth in the tournament.
Diving
Jennifer Abel has made a comeback and is qualified for the semifinals in spot number one. Pamela Ware has moved forward in seventh spot.
Basketball – CAN vs USA
USA defeated Canada, 81-51.
Athletics – Evening
Brianne Theisen-Eaton currently sits in 7th place after day one of the heptathlon.
Khamica Bingham and Crystal Emmanuel competed in the 100m heats but did not qualify forward.
Swimming
The women’s 4x100m freestyle team has qualified in second and will move to the final tomorrow.
Ryan Cochrane has qualified for the finals and will be swimming tomorrow night.
Chantal Van Landeghem moved forward in a tie for 8th.
Michelle Williams has not qualified forward.
Field Hockey – CAN vs India
Canada tied the game 2-2.
