Canada will race for bronze in Olympic women’s team pursuit
Canada will race for bronze in women’s team pursuit at Rio 2016.
The Canadians clinched their spot in the bronze medal race on Saturday morning, finishing the first round of competition with the third best time (4:15:636). Canada will take on New Zealand, who finished with the fourth best time (4:17.592).
Allison Beveridge, Jasmin Glaesser, Krista Lay and Georgia Simmerling rode against Great Britain on Saturday at the Rio Olympic Velodrome, with the winner advancing to the gold medal race. Great Britain beat their own world record – which was set in qualifying on Thursday – with a time of 4:12.152 to earn a shot at gold.

In the previous heat, the United States had broken the world record, only to have it broken by Team GB a few minutes later. The US and Great Britain will battle for gold.
Canada, with Beveridge, Glaesser, Simmerling and Laura Brown, finished qualifying on Thursday with the fourth best time.

The Canadians will be looking to defend the bronze medal they won at London 2012. The team has reached the podium of every World Championship since 2012, including a second place finish this year.
The bronze medal race is scheduled to begin at 4:07 p.m. (ET).
