Black History Collection

The Black History Collection shares the stories of inspiring Black Team Canada Athletes who have made contributions in sport and to the history of our nation. Through sharing these captivating stories, the COSP aims to foster an understanding and appreciation in the next generation of young people in Canada of the contributions made by Black Canadians to sport and to the history of our nation.

Through this collection, the COSP aims to highlight these athletes during Black History Month, but also encourage the inclusion in everyday teaching.

In honour of Black History Month 2023, the COSP is proud to add a new story to the collection, Olympian Carlton Chambers.

Driven by their values, commitment and quest for personal excellence, kids and youth will be inspired by some of the nation’s greatest role models and ambassadors.

Olympic stories of triumph and disappointment can engage learners in discussions about important value issues. Through the stories and challenges of Olympic athletes, children and youth can explore and connect values to their lives, and perhaps begin to see their world in new and different ways.
