Biography
Defenceman Chay Genoway made his Olympic debut at PyeongChang 2018, helping Team Canada win the bronze medal. In the leadup to PyeongChang 2018, Genoway played for Team Canada at the Channel One Cup, Karjala Cup, and Sochi Hockey Open in 2017. He also played for Team Canada at the Spengler Cup and Deutschland Cup in 2016. From 2006 to 2011, Genoway played for the University of North Dakota. In 2008-09 he was the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Year. After graduation, he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Minnesota Wild. He only played one NHL game for them, instead spending most of his time from 2011 to 2014 in the AHL with the Houston Aeros and Hershey Bears. Genoway then moved to the KHL, playing a season each with Riga Dynamo (2014-15), Moscow Spartak (2015-16), Jokerit Helsinki (2016-17) and Tolyatti Lada (2017-18).

Getting into the Sport: Started playing hockey at age four because all his friends were playing and his dad loved it… Outside interests: Enjoys playing golf, tennis, surfing, fishing, and music… Graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in Business Management… Odds and Ends: Considers his brother Colby as his role model and has always looked up to him; they played together on the 2016 Spengler Cup team…
