Custio Clayton made his first appearance at an Olympic Games in London 2012, competing in the 69 kg division. Clayton finished in the top-eight after qualifying for the quarterfinals.

The 2012 national champion Clayton began taking boxing lessons at the age of eight and won three Canadian titles by the time he was 15 years old.

A now six-time Canadian amateur champion, Clayton has represented Canada at the Commonwealth Games and the World Championships and he was the first Olympic boxer from Nova Scotia since Scott MacIntosh competed in the 2000 Sydney Games.
