Django Lovett

Django Lovett made his international debut at the 2009 Youth World Championships, winning the bronze medal with a high jump of 2.17m. That year he represented Team British Columbia at the Canada Games, winning silver before taking gold four years later. Lovett finished as the runner up for the junior Canadian high jump title in both 2010 and 2011 and competed at the 2010 Junior World Championships. In 2012 he represented Canada at the U23 NACAC Championships, finishing fifth.

Lovett’s first international senior event for Canada was the 2018 Commonwealth Games. In Gold Coast, Lovett set a then-personal best of 2.30m to win bronze. Later in the year, he also won bronze at the NACAC Championships in Toronto.

In 2019, Lovett made the final at his first Diamond League meet in Rome. After a third straight runner-up finish at the Canadian Championships, he competed at his first senior World Athletics Championships. After not competing in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, he won gold at the 2021 Canadian Championships with a personal best jump of 2.33m.

In his Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, Lovett advanced to the final as one of 13 jumpers clearing a height of 2.28m. He finished eighth in that final with a best clearance of 2.30m.

Lovett competed collegiately at the University of New Mexico. With the Lobos he won the Mountain West outdoor title in 2011. He won both the MW Indoor and Outdoor Championships in 2013 and set a then-personal best of 2.20m and won the MW Indoor Championships again in 2014. He was named to the All-Mountain West Indoor & Outdoors Teams three times each and was an Honorable Mention on the All-American List in 2012. While at UNM, Lovett represented Canada at the 2013 Universiade.
