Dorothy Ludwig

Dorothy Ludwig competed in her first Olympic Games in the women’s 10-metre air pistol and finished in 34th place at London 2012.

Ludwig originally won the quota spot for Canada at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. The then 32-year-old from Langley, BC, who needed a victory to qualify for London, scored 476.8, only 0.1 points better than silver medallist Maribel Pineda of Venezuela to clinch a berth for her country.

Her biggest moment on the international stage prior to the qualification tournament came in 2002 when Ludwig went to the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England.

At those Games, she would win individual silver, as well as team gold along with partner Kim Eagles.

Ludwig has been a competitive shooter for 20 years and is a five-time national champion (2003-2006, 2008, 2011).

Her father, Bill Hare, went to the Olympic Games as an athlete in Shooting in 1964, 1968, and 1972.
