Biography

A physical force on the ice, Eric Brewer made his Olympic debut at Salt Lake City 2002 where he and Team Canada captured gold, ending a 50-year Olympic gold medal drought for the country men’s ice hockey. Brewer notched two goals during his Olympic debut.

The first time Brewer wore the Team Canada jersey was at the 1998 IIHF World Junior Championship where he served as an alternate captain. Brewer represented Canada at five IIHF World Championships, winning gold three times (2003, 2004, 2007). Brewer was also a member of Team Canada for the 2004 World Cup of Hockey where he secured gold.

Brewer was drafted fifth overall by the New York Islanders in 1997 and would go on to play 16 seasons in the NHL. Brewer served as the captain for the St. Louis Blues for three seasons (2008-2011). Brewer finished his NHL career with 1009 games played and 271 points. After his playing career, Brewer purchased a stake in his former major junior club, the Prince George Cougars in 2014 and remains as one of the team’s owners.

Brewer was inducted to the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 2009 with his teammates from the 2002 Olympic Hockey team.
