Getting to know…

• First international competition was the 1999 Pan Am Junior Championships in Tampa, Florida, where he finished 4th in the decathlon
• Started the sport in different events and was competitively involved in long jump, triple jump and 3000 metres, and in 1999 he competed as a decathlete under Derek Evely, soon switching solely to the 400 metres until 2002, when he took on the 800 metres
