Jim Brown
Biography
James Brown was lone Canada’s BMX competitor at Guadalajara 2011 where he achieved a career highlight by qualifying for the eight-man final. He had his best UCI World Cup season in 2014 when he finished the year ranked 49th and posted his best individual result with his 15th place finish in Santiago del Estero, Argentina.

Family: Parents Bernie and Aileen… Older sister Amy… Younger brother Daniel… Says girlfriend Rose is his good luck; he does his best when she’s at the track… Getting into the Sport: Started racing BMX at age 5… His parents were both athletes and wanted him in sport… Outside Interests: Enjoys reading, working on his bike, playing video games, skiing… School on hiatus until after Rio 2016; one year completed at Douglas College in Sport Science program… Odds and Ends: Favourite motto: “Winning is winning whether it be by an inch or a mile!”… Nicknames: Downtown, The Jaguar, The Godfather… Olympic dream sparked by watching Donovan Bailey win 100m gold at Atlanta 1996… Inspired by his father who believed in him even when he didn’t, coached him in all sports and still rides his bike all around Alberta… Always wears the same socks as the last big event…
