Lauren Gale

Biography

Lauren Gale ran a 400m personal best 51.96 in May 2021 as she broke the 52-second barrier for the first time. Gale was the 2015 Canadian U16 champion in the 200m and the 2016 U18 and U20 silver medallist in the 400m. In 2019 she won the Canadian U20 title in the 400m.

Gale runs collegiately for Colorado State University where she is a seven-time All-Mountain West selection. As a freshman in 2019, Gale won the 400m indoor and outdoor and 4x100m relay Mountain West titles. She took the 400m indoor title again in 2020. As a junior, she won the Mountain West 400m outdoor title in 2021. Her personal best set at the NCAA Preliminary West Round was also a school record.

Gale was named to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Team as a member of the 4x400m relay pool but did not compete.

Getting into the sport: Started running at age 9 and began competing at age 12… Had her Olympic dream sparked when first representing Canada at the Youth Commonwealth Games… Outside Interests: Attending Colorado State University… Working towards a career as a dental hygienist… Enjoys barbequing and being outdoors with friends and family… Likes to cook big meals for her roommates…
