Rower Shannon Crawford had her one and only Olympic race at Barcelona 1992 where she won a gold medal alongside teammates Kirsten Barnes, Brenda Taylor, Megan Delehanty, Marnie McBean, Kay Worthington, Jessica Monroe, Kathleen Heddle, and Lesley Thompson-Willie.

Crawford’s brief major Games rowing career started at the 1991 Pan American Games where she won a gold medal in the coxless fours, and ended at the 1993 World Championships where she won a bronze medal in the coxless fours. Her early national rowing titles included gold medals at the Canadian Henley (1987 coxed fours, 1988 double sculls, 1989 coxed fours), three consecutive silver medals in coxed fours at the Head of the Charles in Boston (1989, 1990, 1991) and a silver medal in the coxed fours at the 1990 US National Championships.

Crawford started rowing at the age of 26 in 1986 when she joined the Toronto Argonaut Rowing Club. She was inducted into the City of Brampton Sports Hall of Fame in 1992 and Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 1994.
