The Red Mittens are priced at just $10, and net proceeds go straight toward Canadian athletes, through the Own the Podium program. They are not only stylish, but suggest strong Olympic pride and a contribution to the best equipment and training possible for Canada’s hard-working athletes. They have been quickly selling out across Canada at the Bay, Zellers and Home Outfitters. Another huge shipment will arrive after the holiday rush for the final five weeks before the Olympic Winter Games begin.

The Red Mittens have helped Own the Podium reach its fundraising goals, even before the end of 2009.

The entire Olympic clothing line is proving very popular among Canadians as well as Olympic fans across the globe. More than 500,000 hoodies, toques and scarves of the 2010 Canadian Olympic Team have been sold. In one store alone, Vancouver’s flagship Hbc store (home to Canada Olympic House during the Games), more than 70,000 pieces of Vancouver 2010 merchandise have been snapped up.

Not surprisingly, the Team Canada 2010 hockey jersey is a favourite, and is projected to outsell even those of the gold medal teams from Salt Lake City 2002.
