2010 Olympians Share Favourite Canadian Travel Destinations
From Alex Bilodeau’s opening gold to Sidney Crosby’s golden shot – the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games woke up a nation’s passion.
The Canadian Tourism Commission’s Locals Know/Secret d’ici national summer marketing campaign builds off that pride and propels a nation to explore this great country. The CTC is Canada’s only national tourism marketing organisation, promoting travel to Canada in 12 countries worldwide, including within Canada.
The Locals Know campaign is an award-winning multi-media campaign with a devoted travel website (www.localsknow.ca) offering Canadians the chance to share their travel stories, upload photos of unique spots and find great travel deals, from airline specials, hotel accommodations to weekend getaways and local day trips.
Who better to launch the 2010 Locals Know/Secret d’ici summer campaign than the 2010 Olympians who reignited our national pride? These outstanding athletes are Canada’s Tourism Ambassadors sharing with us their Gold Medal Getaways: their own favourite personal travel itineraries across Canada. Visit http://www.localsknow.ca or http://www.secretdici.ca (as of April 28, 2010) to view video and written testimonials from athletes such as Alex Bilodeau , Charles Hamelin, François Hamelin, Marianne St-Gelais, Tania Vincent, Guillaume Bastille, François-Louis Tremblay, Lyndon Rush, Lascelles Brown, Kaillie Humphries, Meghan Agosta, Cherie Piper, Jayna Hefford, Maëlle Ricker, Vicki Sunohara, Kristina Groves, Duff Gibson and many others.
