Joannie Rochette Nominated for an 'ESPY' Award
Vote for Her in ‘Best Moment’ Category
In a story well known not only across Canada, but the world as well, figure skater Joannie Rochette captured bronze at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Her two must-watch skating routines came mere days after the sudden, tragic death of her mother, Therese.
Rochette’s performance amid that emotional atmosphere has been nominated for an ESPY award. The award show, hosted by American sport network ESPN, includes Rochette in the ‘Best Moment’ category.
“I am very honoured to be nominated for an ESPY award for Best Moment,” Rochette told Olympic.ca, an hour after finding out. “This has been an incredible time in my life. When I go to Los Angeles for the ESPY awards show, I know I will have my mother with me in my heart.
“Thank you Canada for your support. You will never know how much you have helped me during these past few months.”
