Kayaker Jazmyne Denhollander wins Canada’s 50th gold at TO2015
Jazmyne Denhollander topped an extremely close slalom kayak final to win both her sport’s Pan Am debut and country’s 50th title from TO2015.

Denhollander recorded a total time of 97.92 seconds to edge Brazil’s Ana Satila by a mere two one-hundredths of a second. What’s more, American Ashley Nee clocked 97.95 putting a spread of only three one-hundredths between gold and bronze.
The Canadian from Chilliwack, BC qualified third out of the semifinal. At 21 she is the youngest member of the canoe-kayak slalom team and now the fourth of four members to win a medal today.
Ben Hayward scored bronze in the men’s K1. Cameron Smedley earned silver in the men’s C1 (canoe) while Haley Daniels did the same in the women’s C1. The C2 team of Hayward and Smedley failed to make the final.
