G. Scott Paterson is a technology and media entrepreneur who is currently active as Executive Chair of FutureVault Inc., Chair of QYOU Media Inc. and a board member of Verses AI Inc. and Lions Gate Entertainment Canada Corp.
From 1995 until 2001, Scott built Yorkton Securities into Canada’s preeminent technology bank. He opened offices in New York and Chicago which contributed to the company’s spectacular growth under his leadership from $15 million in revenue in his first year to $244 million five years later. He also co-founded JumpTV Inc., a live streaming service and co-founded Symbility Solutions, a SaaS company servicing the insurance claims industry.
Scott has been a TedTalk speaker, was named a ‘Top 40 Under 40,’ been profiled in Time and Newsweek magazines as well as Peter C. Newman’s best seller: Titans, and awarded Western University’s top Alumni recognition, the Purple & White Award.
He has served as Vice Chair of the Toronto Stock Exchange, Chair of the Venture Exchange, a Governor of the Investment Dealers Association (now IIROC), and a Trustee of the Art Gallery of Ontario.
In 1998, Scott co-founded the Merry Go Round Children’s Foundation and its Kids, Cops & Computers program (rebranded as ComKids) and continues to be very passionate as Chair of the Board. The charity partners with school boards in eight Canadian provinces and Nunavut to provide new laptops to financially disadvantaged kids in an effort to ‘level the playing field’ via access to technology.
Scott obtained his ICD.d designation as a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors at Rotman School of Management, earned a Certificate in Entertainment Law from Osgoode Hall Law School and holds an active ACTRA membership.
