Antoine Duchesne

Biography

Antoine Duchesne had been racing competitively for just four years when he became the junior national time trial champion and competed at the world junior championships in 2009. As an under-23 racer, he won the national road race title in 2012 and 2013 and competed at the U23 world championships both years. He also finished second in the U23 time trial at the 2013 nationals. It was at those nationals that Duchesne enjoyed a senior breakthrough, winning bronze in the road race. In 2014, Duchesne joined the professional roster of Team Europcar. The next year he made his Grand Tour debut at the Vuelta a Espana and competed at his first senior world championships, where he was in the front group of the road race until near the end. In 2015 he also earned his second straight podium finish at the one-day La Poly Normande. Racing with Team Direct Energie in 2016, Duchesne considers himself an all-around, jack-of-all-trades type of racer. He made his Olympic debut at Rio 2016.

Family: Mother Chantale Tremblay… Older siblings Sarah-Ann and Gabriele… Getting into the Sport: Began cycling at age 14 following his older sister after attending a few races… Outside Interests: Studied marketing at Laval University… Really enjoys cooking and reading about, drinking and discovering wine… Likes to spend free time at a local vineyard near his training location in France and works there when on holiday to learn as much as he can…
