Biography
Goaltender Ben Scrivens played three games for Canada at PyeongChang 2018, posting a 1.61 GAA to help the team win the bronze medal. In the leadup to PyeongChang 2018, Scrivens played for Team Canada at the Channel One Cup, Karjala Cup, and Tournament of Nikolai Puchkov in 2017. He previously wore the maple leaf at the 2014 IIHF World Championship. Scrivens competed collegiately while attending Cornell University from 2006 to 2010. As a senior, he was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award as the top player in men’s NCAA hockey. After signing as an undrafted free agent with the Toronto Maple Leafs, he joined them in the 2011-12 season. He went on to play 144 NHL games with the Leafs (2011-13), Los Angeles Kings (2013-14), Edmonton Oilers (2013-15) and Montreal Canadiens (2015-16). While playing for the Oilers in 2014, he set an NHL record for most saves (59) in a regular season shutout. He moved to the KHL for the 2016-17 season, playing with Minsk Dynamo and then Ufa Salavat Yulayev in 2017-18.
