Ella Matteucci

Biography

The biggest highlight of Ella Matteucci’s career thus far has been pitching against Japan at the 2014 IBAF World Cup. She may have given up seven runs to the team that went on to win its fourth straight World Cup, but that doesn’t tell Matteucci’s whole story. As a senior in high school she pitched a no-hitter for the Notre Dame Hounds, a boys’ baseball team on which she was the only female, against a midget AA boys’ team. Matteuci played hockey for the four years she attended Clarkson University and became known for her defensive play on the fifth-ranked defence in the country. Other hockey highlights include captaining Team BC at the 2011 Canada Winter Games and winning an Esso Cup National Championship that same year with her midget AAA team.
