Biography
Just three years after she started kiteboarding, Emily Bugeja represented Team Canada at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. She finished sixth in women’s kite, securing an Olympic quota spot for Canada in the event. Bugeja qualified herself for Paris 2024 by being the top-ranked Canadian in women’s kite at the 2024 Formula Kite World Championships and the Trofeo Princesa Sofia regatta.
Bugeja debuted at the Formula Kite World Championships in 2022, one year before she competed at her first Sailing World Championships for all classes in 2023. It was also in 2023 that she made her World Cup Series debut at the Trofeo Princesa Sofia.
Bugeja first represented Canada internationally at the 2016 Youth Sailing World Championships where she competed in the 29er, a two-person skiff. She won a bronze medal in the 29er while representing Team BC at the 2017 Canada Summer Games.
