Jonnie Newman

Biography

Jonnie Newman joined the senior national team program in 2022 and went on to help Canada win the team bronze medal at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.

Newman represented Canada at a major international meet for the first time at the 2019 World Youth Artistic Swimming Championships when she was just 13. She went on to compete at the World Junior Artistic Swimming Championships in 2022, before making her debut at the World Aquatics Championships in 2023. Newman competed in the team free and team acrobatic routines at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships, helping Canada qualify a full team for Paris 2024.

In the leadup to the Olympic Games, Newman helped Canada win medals in all three team events (team technical silver, team free silver, team acrobatic bronze) at the World Aquatics Artistic Swimming World Cup held in Markham, Ontario in June 2024. That followed a silver medal in the team free at the World Cup in Paris in early May that served as the Olympic test event of the Aquatics Centre for Paris 2024.
