Rusty Malinoski

Biography

Rusty Malinoski is the first athlete to ever land a 1080 in competition, having made the breakthrough at the 2009 MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour finale in Reno, Nevada. He joined the national team in 2006 and was named Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada’s Male Athlete of the Year after winning the World Cup wakeboard title. He earned the national honour again in 2008 when he was crowned world champion. Malinoski was named Wakeboard Male Athlete of the Year in 2011 and 2013, the latter after having won his second world title. Malinoski was to have made his Pan Am Games debut at Guadalajara 2011, but withdrew from the event three weeks before the start of competition.
