Sandra Levy

Biography

Sandra Levy is a two-time Olympian who competed at Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992.

As an 11-year veteran of the women’s national field hockey team, Levy was a silver medallist at the 1991 Pan American Games in Havana, four years after winning bronze at the 1987 Pan American Games in Indianapolis.

Levy went on to be a member of the mission team at the 1998 Olympic Winter Games in Nagano where she provided legal support for athletes before serving as Team Canada’s Chef de Mission at the Nanjing 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games. In October 2020, it was announced that she had been hired as the Canadian Olympic Committee’s Chief People Officer.

Levy’s continuing involvement with the Olympic movement includes: member of the COC’s Legal Committee, the Director of Special Projects for the Toronto 2008 Olympic Bid Corporation and member of the Board of Directors and Chair of Human Resources Committee with the Toronto 2015 Pan American/Parapan American Games Organizing Committee.

A graduate of York University and Osgoode Hall Law School, Levy has more than 20 years experience as a Human Resources executive. She has received numerous awards and accolades, including the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference award in 2004, the Johnny F. Basset Award for Sporting Excellence and Community Values in 2000, and the Who’s Who of Women in Canada in 1995. In 2003 she was inducted to the York University Sport Hall of Fame.
