Sara Kaljuvee
Biography
Sara Kaljuvee graduated from Pickering High School in Ajax, Ontario and went on to win the 2012 CIS women’s rugby championship with the St. Francis Xavier X-Women. Kaljuvee caught the eye of Canadian sevens coaches with her strong play in fifteens, where she captained Canada to the 2013 U-20 Nations Cup title. After moving out west to join Canada’s centralized program in 2013, Kaljuvee was named to the roster for Canada’s opening leg of the 2013-14 World Rugby Women’s Sevens World Series in Dubai. After suffering an injury, she did not join the team again until the fourth and fifth rounds in Guangzhou and Amsterdam. Kaljuvee was on Canada’s gold medal winning team at the 2014 FISU Women’s Sevens Championship. She was also a member of the gold medal winning team at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto where she scored three tries in the tournament. In 2018, she suited up at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast and the Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco

Getting into the sport: Started playing rugby at the age of 14 with her high school team… Had grown up playing boys hockey and enjoying the contact the sport offered… Outside Interests: Attended St. Francis Xavier University where she studied Human Kinetics… In the off-season enjoys travelling, camping, playing hockey, being in a book club… Odds and Ends: Nickname is “Juvee”… Grew up watching the Olympics with her parents and knew she wanted to represent Canada one day… Favourite motto: “Be your best you”…
