Tristan Jankovics

Biography

Tristan Jankovics qualified to make his Olympic debut at Paris 2024 when he won the men’s 400m individual medley at the Olympic Swimming Trials in May 2024. He took more than five seconds off his personal best to go three-quarters of a second under the Olympic Qualifying Time for the event with his time of 4:11.74. That made him the first Canadian to qualify for the men’s 400m IM at the Olympic Games since London 2012. 

Jankovics represented Canada internationally at the 2022 Junior Pan Pacific Championships where his top result was a seventh-place finish in the 100m backstroke. At the 2023 Canadian Swimming Trials, he placed third in the 50m backstroke. Later that summer, he won three gold medals at the 2023 Canadian Championships in the 200m freestyle, 200m IM, and 400m IM. 

Jankovics competes collegiately for The Ohio State University. He qualified for the 2024 NCAA Championships where he was a finalist in the 400-yard IM, finishing eighth overall. That followed a fourth-place finish in the 400-yard IM at the 2024 Big Ten Championships. In 2023, he had finished sixth in the 400-yard IM at the Big Ten Championships.
