Yu Tong Wu

Biography

  • Canada’s Junior Male Swimmer of the Year in 2022
  • First represented Canada in a major international meet at the 2022 Junior Pan Pacific Championships where he won bronze in the 200m freestyle and was a finalist in the 400m freestyle, 800m freestyle, and 200m butterfly events
  • Finished third in the 800m freestyle and fourth in the 400m freestyle at the 2023 Canadian Swimming Trials 
  • Won gold in the 200m freestyle at the 2022 Canadian Swimming Trials 
  • Recorded five first-place finishes at the 2022 Canadian Junior Championships (100m butterfly and 200m/ 400m/ 800m/1500m freestyle)
  • Won two gold medals (200m butterfly and 1500m freestyle) at the 2019 Canadian Junior Championships
  • Competed in his first World Aquatics World Cup event in October 2022 
  • Competes collegiately for Columbia University; as a freshman in 2023 won gold in the 1000 freestyle, silver in the 500 freestyle, and bronze in the 200 butterfly at the Ivy League Championships
