Antoine Bouchard

Biography

Antoine Bouchard had a breakthrough season in 2014, making his debut at the senior IJF World Championships and competing at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. He also earned his first World Cup victories, winning the Pan American Opens in San Salvador and Miami, and was crowned Canadian champion in the 66kg category. In 2015 he got another World Cup victory at the Pan American Open in Buenos Aires and won his first Pan American Championship title in Edmonton. He went on to win silver at the Pan Am Games in Toronto and posted his best-ever Grand Slam result with his seventh place finish in Abu Dhabi. Bouchard has also represented Canada at three editions of the IJF World Junior Championships (2011, 2013, 2014).

Family: Parents Sylvain Bouchard and Josée Brassard… Getting into the Sport: Started in judo at age 5… His parents were looking for a constructive outlet for his energy… Outside Interests: Fulltime student at Université de Montréal, pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry… Enjoys playing video games… Odds and Ends: Role model is his coach, Nicolas Gill, the best judoka in Canadian history… Listens to music to relax before competing…
