Biography
Lois Betteridge is a three-time silver medallist at the Pan American Games. She stood on the podium twice at Santiago 2023 where she finished as the runner-up in both the women’s C-1 and kayak cross events. That followed her second-place finish in women’s C-1 at Lima 2019 where she had been a semifinalist in kayak cross.
Betteridge has been representing Canada at the senior ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships since 2017, competing in both the C-1 (canoe) and K-1 (kayak) events. She was first named to the national team in 2015 when she was just 17 years old.
Betteridge secured Olympic qualification for Paris 2024 by winning the women’s C-1 event at the 2024 COPAC Canoe Slalom Americas Olympic Qualifier. The next day, she won gold in the women’s K-1 and silver in the women’s C-1 at the 2024 Pan American Championships. It was the second straight year she won C-1 silver at the Pan Am Championships.
