Laurent Dumais
Biography
Laurent Dumais competed in his first FIS World Cup events during the second half of the 2014-15 season. He had an early career highlight in front of friends and family at Val St. Côme, Quebec in January 2016 when he not only advanced to his first World Cup superfinal but won the bronze medal for his first career World Cup podium. In April 2016 he represented Canada at the FIS Junior World Championships and won the gold medal in the dual moguls event.
Over the next few years years, Dumais dealt with concussions and some other minor injuries, which prevented him from being able to compete consistently. But he never gave up and in 2019-20 he had his best World Cup season. After four years, he finally stood on a World Cup podium again, winning moguls bronze in Tazawako, Japan in February and following that up with a bronze in dual moguls in Shymbulak, Kazakhstan in March.
Dumais competed at the senior FIS World Championships in 2017, 2019 and 2021. He recorded his career-best result at the latter, making the superfinal for the first time to finish sixth overall. Dumais made his Olympic debut at Beijing 2022.
