Biography

Miha Fontaine made his Olympic debut at Beijing 2022 where he won a bronze medal with Marion Thénault and Lewis Irving in the inaugural Olympic mixed team aerials event. It was Canada’s first Olympic medal in any aerials event in 20 years. Fontaine came just one spot shy of qualifying for the final of the men’s individual aerials event in Beijing, placing 13th overall.

Fontaine has been a member of Freestyle Canada’s national next gen team since 2019. He got his first taste of World Cup competition in February 2020 before joining the circuit close to full time in 2020-21. He posted two top-eight finishes that season and made his debut at the FIS World Championships. During the 2021-22 season, he improved his personal best on the World Cup circuit with a sixth-place finish in Deer Valley in January.

Fontaine was the overall champion for freestyle skiing on the 2019-20 Nor-Am Cup circuit. He reached the podium in six of eight events, including four victories.
