Nassima Benhacine
Biography
Nassima Benhacine has been a member of the national handball team since 2008. In 2013 she was part of the Canadian team that finished ninth at the Pan American Championships, defeating Costa Rica in the final classification match. Benhacine achieved a career highlight competing at the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games, playing in all five matches of Canada’s seventh place finish.

Getting into the Sport: Started playing handball at age 10… Her father had played in Algeria and signed her sister up for the high school team… Nassima was in elementary school at the time but wanted to play so her father asked if the coach could bring her in with the older kids… Outside Interests: Completed her Bachelor of Laws in April 2012… Completed Bar School in December 2012… Passed the final verification in October 2013 and now works as a criminal defence lawyer… Odds and Ends: Favourite quote: “If you never try you’ll never know”…
