Olivia Mew
Biography
Olivia Mew has always been drawn to water sports. Before sailing competitively, she competed nationally in sprint canoe and won provincial titles in C-1, C-2, C-4 and C-15. After a bad wrist injury, Mew took up windsurfing at the age of 15. Mew first competed in the Techno 293 windsurfing class, winning the U19 United States national title in 2011. In 2012, she started competing in the RS:X class. Her first major event was the 2012 RS:X Youth World Championships in Taiwan, where she placed 22nd. Since 2015, Mew has won four Canadian titles in the RS:X. In 2016, she posted an impressive fourth-place finish in the RS:X at the World Cup in Weymouth, England. Mew represents Queens University in intercollegiate 420 dinghy sailing.

Outside Interests: Enjoys baking and kiteboarding… Interested in exploring the fields of psychiatry or psychology… Awarded a Major Admissions Award to Queens University to complete her Bachelor of Science, specializing in Kinesiology; has been named to the deans honours list with distinction twice… Volunteers as the Marketing Supervisor at a non-profit organization at Queen’s University called Get Your 150… Odds and Ends: Nicknames: Ollie… Her image was the inspiration for the artwork on a $10 collector’s coin as part of the 2015 Canadian Adventure Series Collection by the Royal Canadian Mint… Chose CAN 24 as her sail number because it will be her age during Tokyo 2020…
