Pamphinette (Pam) Buisa has been making waves on the women’s sevens national team in recent years. Originally interested in basketball, Buisa moved to rugby in grade seven after a coach noted her physicality would be well suited for the sport. She joined a club team and developed her skill from there. In 2014, she helped Team Canada win silver at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing. In 2016, she competed at the FISU World University Championship where Canada also won silver. In 2017, she helped the University of Victoria Vikes win the Canada West title and qualify the team for its first ever national championship. Buisa has suited up for Team Canada on the World Rugby Sevens Series in 2017-18 and 2018-19 as well as at the 2018 Rugby Sevens World Cup in San Francisco.
