Valerie Ho
Biography
- Was just 16 when she won silver in team freestyle poomsae taekwondo at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games
- Placed sixth in women’s individual poomsae at Lima 2019
- Represented Canada at her first World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in 2018, placing sixth in team freestyle U17 and 11th in pair freestyle U17
- Finished second with teammate Jinsu Ha in the freestyle mixed pair at the 2023 Pan American Games Qualification Tournament, qualifying them for Santiago 2023
A Little More About Valerie
Getting into the Sport: Started taekwondo at age 9 and began competing in local tournaments at age 11… Seeing people who were able to kick 180 degrees and do other cool acrobatic tricks inspired her to try out the sport… Outside Interests: Enjoys hiking and camping during the offseason… Odds and Ends: Favourite motto: “Stronger than yesterday”… Naturally spins in the opposite direction to her teammates, which led to choreography challenges before she learned to spin the same way…
